|The [[Royal Tourney of Union 1974]] is held at Glen Helen Park in Devore, CA [[Dreiburgen]]. (This location was eventually the 2nd site for the Southern Renaissance Faire.) The name [[Caid]] was coined by Master [[Boncueur]] (West) and means "Fortress" in Arabic. Although the new name was capitalized for many years, it eventually transitioned from an acronym to a proper name.

Jan 3, 1970 AS IV John ap Griffin and Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani (then known as Bjo of Griffin) receive Awards of Arms.
Sept 6, 1970 AS IV Fighting demo held at Mythcon I (http://www.mythsoc.org/mythcon/mythcon-1/). Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, CA. The SCA chapter at Harvey Mudd was once known as the College of Boethius in the former Shire of Heatherwyne. Pwyll pen Tyrhon and Rhiannon of the Mystic Isle are founding Baron and Baroness of Angels.
Jan 1971 AS IV Our first 12th Night Revel was held at the Bull & Bush Public House in Costa Mesa, CA (now Gyldenholt, attended by Jean de la Grand 'Anse, King of the West. With His Majesty's permission the new Baron of the Angels Pwyll pen Tyrhon created the Order of the Seraphic Star, the SCA's first Baronial Order.
May 1, 1971 AS V Baron Pwyll pen Tyrhon became the first "southerner" to receive a Court Barony.
May 25, 1971 AS V Baron Pwyll pen Tyrhon takes a leave-of-absence for work, appoints Sarkanyi Gero as Vicar of Angels.
Sept 18, 1971 AS V At a joint baronial anniversary for Angels and Calafia, a Council of Arts is formed that includes Ginger of Orange, Madelain du Bois, Bjo of Griffin, and Jusuf Shahin-I-rum Aga. A belly dance troupe was hired to entertain, including Wanda Kendall who joined the SCA and later became Duchess Neptha of Thebes.
Jan 8, 1971 AS V The 2nd 12th Night is celebrated at the Unitarian Church in Los Angeles. Baron Pwyll pen Tyrhon returns, resumes office, and admits Randall of Hightower and Rhiannon of the Mystic Isle to the Order of the Seraphic Star.
Feb 19, 1971 AS V The Canton on Naess is founded. Talanque and Rowen Lynn of Woodvine appointed as founding Baron and Baroness of Calafia. (Her Excellency's original SCA name was Bonnie Blue-Bells.) Calafia's first Anniversary Tourney was held, which Their Majesties of the West Paul of Bellatrix and Carol of Bellatrix attended.
Mar 26, 1971 AS V Bruno von der Eiche is the first "southerner" to be knighted.
Jun 6, 1971 AS VI The Canton of Failte founded in what is now Gyldenholt.
Sep 2, 1972 AS VI Participation in a demo at the 30th WorldCon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/30th_World_Science_Fiction_Convention), at LAX.
Sep 9, 1972 AS VI 2nd Barony of the Angels Anniversary Tourney, Centinela Park, Inglewood, CA.
Oct 28, 1972 AS VI Gorgonoth in Riverside, CA established as a canton of Angels; will eventually become the Barony of Dreiburgen.
Oct 29, 1972 AS VI 1st Gorgonoth Anniversary Tourney (then called the "Markheim Invitational Samhain Tourney") held at Fairmont Park, Riverside, CA to celebrate canton status. Armand de Sevigny won the list for the 1st Dragon Slayer.
Nov 2, 1972 AS VI Calafia Anniversary Tourney held at Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.
Jan 6, 1973 AS VI The Canton of Eastern Gate established in Orange County in what is now the Barony of Gyldenholt.
Jan 13, 1973 AS VI A 12th Night revel was held at Palacia Mabuhay in San Diego, CA. Baron Talanque of Calafia forms the Order of Leodamas to honor Leodamas of Thebes. Lady Eilonwy de Lyur is admitted as the founding member. Autocrat: Meg Shelford. A live chess game was held. Sarkanyi Gero admitted Sieglinde von Krause to Angels' Order of the Seraphic Star.

Feb 17, 1973 AS VII The Barony of the Angels participated in the Garden Grove Artisans Guild Parade and won the Artisans Guild Trophy. A fighting demo was held, and on Feb 18, the ladies of the Barony put on a medieval fashion show.
Feb 24, 1973 AS VII 1st Baronial Expedition, Barony of the Angels. The Expedition gathered at the home of the Incomparable Giacomo and went to Joshua Tree National Park, then to Hadley Fruit Orchards, which specializes in dried fruit and nuts, for a picnic lunch.

Oct 13, 1973 AS VII Queen Seitse of the West attends Angels 3rd Anniversary Tourney and, with the assistance of Duke James Greyhelm, knights William Gordon of York, Christian of Orange and Hugh the Undecided who is also the first "southerner" to receive the Queen's Order of Grace (sometimes referred to as the "QOG").
Oct 20, 1973 AS VII Originally part of the Kingdom of the West, the Shire of Riesling (Fresno) is established as the first Shire in the SCA.
Oct 21, 1973 AS VII The Barony of Isles, once conjoined with Angels, is re-established with Jessica Llyrindi of Northmarch as Baroness. She was its only Baroness, and when she stepped down in 1979, it became a Shire.
Jan 8, 1974 AS VIII The Barony of Dreiburgen is founded, with Waldt and Alison von Markheim as the founding Baron and Baroness.
Mar 2-3, 1974 AS VIII The first March Hare Tourney is held in Calafia.
Mar 23, 1974 AS VIII A committee representing the four Baronies (Calafia, Angels, Isles and Dreiburgen) meets at the home of Sir Christian of Orange to discuss plans for a proposed "southern" principality in the Kingdom of the West.
