Award Cords are made by the populace for use by Their Royal Majesties when giving out awards. If you would like to make award cords, visit the Royals Award Inventory page for more information.
During Su Crescent's term as principal herald, specific color requirements for Armigerious and grant level award cords were removed. That means the royalty could request cords made in their personal colors to hang the armerigious and grant awards on. The only awards that retained a specific color of cord are Vanguard of Honor, Corde de Guerre and Legion of Courtesy. If the royalty does not request a custom color for award cords, using the traditional colors is best.
Narrow Cord
Narrow medallion cords should be at least 33-34" long each, if they are cut into individual cords or woven in short sections. They need to be large enough to pull over someone's head, possibly while wearing a veil or hat or glasses. (An award recipient can always shorten a cord, but never lengthen it.) They should be narrow enough that they can be fed through a 1/4-inch jump-ring.
Custom
Colors are custom to the royalty. For example during the reign of Sven II and Kolfinna II, custom cords in orange and white would have been appropriate for the royal couple. Use for any award that uses a cord, except for the Legion of Courtesy, Vanguard of Honor and Corde de Guerre.
White
Should be white or silver in color. Used for armigerious awards (Argent Arrow, Chamfron, Crescent Sword, Dolphin, Duellist, Harp Argent) and children's awards (Acorn, Crescent and Flame, Argent Star). Note: These awards can also use a custom cord.
Blue and White
Should be white/silver and blue in color. Used for grant level awards (Chiron, Crescent, Gauntlet, Golden Lance, Lux Caidis) and the Legion of Courtesy. Note: Only the Legion of Courtesy requires a blue and white cord, the grant level awards can use a custom cord.
