Polling Order
A Polling Order is one whose Companions are consulted by the Crown prior to elevating new members. These include the Orders of the Chivalry, the Laurel, the Pelican, and Order of Defense. Additionally, the Golden Lance and the Vanguard of Honor are polling orders. The Order of the White Scarf of Caid was also a polling order, prior to its closure in 2015. The Chiron still exists as a grant-level award but stopped being a polling order in 2025 in preparation for the creation of the new ranged peerage.
In Caid, the consultation process is usually driven by the Orders, which proactively make recommendations to the Crown regarding those people the Companions believe should be added to the Order. Traditionally, Caidan monarchs do not elevate Their subjects to the Peerage (Chivalry, Laurel, Pelican, Defense) without the consent of the Order.
