Jan 1971 | AS IV | The first 12th Night Revel was held at the Bull & Bush Public House in Costa Mesa, CA (now Gyldenholt, attended by Jean de la Grand 'Anse, King of the West. With His Majesty's permission the new Baron of the Angels Pwyll pen Tyrhon created the Order of the Seraphic Star. This was the SCA's first Baronial Order. |

Jan 8, 1971 | AS V | The 2nd 12th Night is celebrated at the Unitarian Church in Los Angeles. |
Feb 19, 1971 | AS V | The Canton on Naess is founded. Talanque and Rowen Lynn of Woodvine appointed as founding Baron and Baroness of Calafia. (Her Excellency's original SCA name was "Bonnie Blue-Bells" and then "Rowan Lynn of Woodbine".) Their Excellencies lived on Woodbine Street. The Barony's first Anniversary Tourney was held, with Their Majesties of the West Paul of Bellatrix and Carol of Bellatrix in attendance. |

Oct 20, 1973 | AS VII | Originally part of the Kingdom of the West, the Shire of Riesling (Fresno) is established as the first Shire in the SCA. |
Oct 21, 1973 | AS VII | The Barony of Isles, once conjoined with Angels, is re-established with Jessica Llyrindi of Northmarch as Baroness. She was its only Baroness, and when she stepped down in 1979, it became a Shire. |
Jan 8, 1974 | AS VIII | The Barony of Dreiburgen is founded, with Waldt and Alison von Markheim as the founding Baron and Baroness. |
Mar 2-3, 1974 | AS VIII | The first March Hare Tourney is held in Calafia. |

The name Caid was coined by Master Boncueur (West) and means "Fortress" in Arabic. Although the new name was capitalized for many years, it eventually transitioned from an acronym to a proper name. |
May 4-5, 1974 | AS IX | Bevin Fraser of Stirling becomes the first Caidan admitted to the Order of the Pelican. |
May 11-12 | AS IX | The Canton of Novamarc holds its inaugural tourney. |
