Founded: (as a Shire) 1988, (as a Barony) 10/10/2015 Modern Location: Western Kern County, California

The Barony of Wintermist^RRE covers western Kern County, CA, most notably the City of Bakersfield up to the Lake Isabella and Tahachapi regions. The name refers to the thick fog that envelopes the area in the wintertime. The Barony's newsletter is Tales from the Mist.

The Barony of Wintermist is host to Caid's annual Great Western War, held in October.

The first Baron and Baroness are Einarr and Kale.

History

Originally formed as a Shire, the name Wintermist was registered in September 1988.

The Shire was raised to Baronial status on October 10, 2015 at GWW grand court by King Athanaric and Queen Sigridhr.

Heraldry

In addition to its device, there are several badges registered to the group:

• Per bend argent and gules, a bouquet of three roses issuant from the line of division argent.

• The Order of the Argent Oak, given to recognize teaching in arts and sciences, and excellent work in arts and sciences

• The Company of Winter's Helm, given to recognize armored combat fighters who not only fight, but teach.

• Gules, a swept-hilted rapier inverted and on a chief embattled argent three snowflakes gules.

• The Company of Winter's Blade, given to those who not only excel in rapier combat, but also share their knowledge with the populace.

• Gules, a battle-axe and on a chief embattled argent three snowflakes gules.

• The Company of Winter's Axe, given to honor those who excel in ranged weapons, and also share their knowledge of the practice.

• Per bend engrailed argent and gules, a snowflake and a chalice counterchanged.

• The Order of the Shield of Valor, given to exceptional teachers of the martial arts in Wintermist

• Gules, an arch with doors open and on a chief embattled argent three snowflakes gules.

• The Order of Winter's Door, given to those from outside of the barony who have provided exceptional service to the barony.

• Per bend embattled gules and argent, two snowflakes counterchanged.

• Company of Winter's Mantle, given to youths who go above and beyond in service, arts, sciences, or combat
