Great Western War XII again was held on the shores of Lake Evans, within the Buena Vista Aquatic Recreational Area, southwest of Bakersfield.
Highlights
- A memorial for Duchess Kolfinna kottr, KSCA, OP was held on Saturday, Oct 10, 2009, on the Main Battlefield at 2 PM. Many of her loved ones spoke of the way she lived her life to the fullest and loved the people of the SCA. Speakers included:
- Baron Giles Hill (heralded and read a closing poem)
- Kolfinna's mother, Kathryn (via sign language interpreter, Baroness Thea Gabrielle Northernridge)
- King Edward and Queen Mora
- Prince Patrick and Princess Kara
- Duke Edric Aaron Hartwood
- Sir Augustine von Freiburg
- Baron Secca of Kent (Kolfinna's squire, who read a poem)
- Lord Blaine de Navarré (Kolfinna's squire)
- Baron Laertes McBride (Kolfinna's consort in Crown Tournaments)
- Viscountess Syele von der Rosen (from the West, who performed a song she had written)
- Dame Ismay of Giggleswick
- Duke Sven Örfhendur
- Caitlin Christiana Wintour was made a companion of the Order of the Laurel at Grand Court
- Alexander Kallidokos and Vivienne Duval were made companions of the Order of the Pelican
- Grainne ingen Lasrach was made a companion of the White Scarf of Caid on the rapier battlefield, Saturday.
- Caidan Rose Tournament 2009
- The White Scarf Tournament was won by Don Colwyn Stagghorn, with Don Blayde of the West Kingdom the other finalist. (Each White Scarf selected two non-scarved fighters to fight for them)
