Awards
Caidan Awards as of Caidan Law 13. The Order of Precedence is the master list of who has received these awards.
Patent-level Order
Bestows the title of Duke, Duchess, Count, Countess, Sir, Master, Mistress. This is the top end of the award structure, any recommendations for this level should be for an individual who is the best of the best.
- Chivalry: Those who have excelled in armored combat.
- Laurel: Those who have excelled in the arts or sciences.
- Pelican: Those who have excelled in service.
- Royal Peerage: Those serving as Monarchs of Caid for a full reign receive a county, those serving as Monarchs of Caid for two full reigns receive a duchy.
Grant-level Orders
Bestows the style of "honorable", and may be addressed as "Your Lordship / Ladyship". This is for those who have shown high level of skill and competency in their area of expertise.
- Grant of Arms: Those who have been of diverse exceptional service to the Realm. No regalia, but the right to display arms with helm and crest.
- Chiron: Awarded for outstanding ability in SCA-style archery. Azure, a saggitary salient regardant and drawing his bow to sinister a bordure embattled argent
- Crescent: Awarded for outstanding service to the Kingdom. Azure, three crescents conjoined, horns outward, a bordure embattled argent.
- Gauntlet: Awarded for outstanding ability in SCA-sanctioned armored combat. Azure, a dexter gauntlet sustaining by the blade a sword fesswise, a bordure embattled argent.
- Lux Caidis: Awarded for outstanding skill in the arts or sciences. Azure, a sunburst, a bordure embattled argent.
- White Scarf: Awarded for outstanding ability in SCA-style rapier combat in accordance with the Treaty of the White Scarf. Polling Order. White scarf worn on the left arm or shoulder.
Armigerous Orders
Bestow the title of Lord/Lady. The first tier of precedence bearing awards, this is for those who have started to flower in their area.
- Award of Arms: Those who have been of diverse great service to the Realm. No regalia, but the right to display arms with a simple crown a top the shield.
- Court Barony: Those subjects who exemplify noble demeanor and whose contributions have enriched the Realm in unique ways. Addressed as "Your Excellency". Coronet, of a form usually chosen by recipient (except cannot be ducal or comital). Six "pearls" (large spheres) around brim is a common choice.
- Argent Arrow: Awarded for superior skill and appearance in target archery. Azure, an arrow between in fess two crescents argent.
- Crescent Sword: Awarded for superior skill and appearance in armored combat. Azure, a crescent surmounted by a sword all within a bordure embattled argent.
- Dolphin: Awarded for superior service to the Kingdom. Azure, a dolphin embowed uriant to sinister argent.
- Duelist: Awarded for superior skill and appearance in SCA-style rapier combat. Per pale azure and argent, two rapiers, a bordure embattled counter changed.
- Harp Argent: Awarded for superior skill in the arts or sciences. Azure, a harp within a bordure embattled argent.
Non-armigerous Awards
Bestow no titles or precedence. Given for a specific reason in a specific field.
- Acorn: Awarded to those minors who have demonstrated considerable contributions to the Kingdom.(Fieldless) An acorn proper.
- Augmentation of Arms: Those who have given years of consistent service and dedication to the Kingdom of Caid. A very rare and special award. The recipient is entitled to register a modification to their arms, often times it takes form of the Caidan Cross.
- Chanson: Those who have excelled in musical arts. Also known as L'Honneur de la Chanson. Azure, a goblet argent, charged on the bowl with a crescent azure, within a bordure embattled argent
- Corde de Guerre: Granted for acts of extreme valor upon the war battlefield. Blue and white braided cord worn on the left arm or shoulder.
- Crossed Swords: Granted to such fighting units as have demonstrated exceptional skill at arms, valor, and chivalry upon the battlefield. Per fess argent and azure, two swords in saltire counterchanged.
- Legion of Courtesy: The Consort reserves and has the sole right to award the Legion of Courtesy to those found deserving. A rose Or barbed and seeded vert.
- Royal Recognition of Excellence: Shall be awarded to individuals or groups for unique reasons, ranging from running a spectacular event to real-life heroism.
- Signum Reginae: Bestowed by the Queen on those found to have been of special support during the reign. The token is a brooch in the form of a silver crescent, engraved with the sigil of the consort.
- Sigillum Regis: Bestowed by the King on those found to have been of special support during the reign. The token is a silver brooch in the form of Caidan Cross, engraved with the sigil of the King.
- Signum Regni: Bestowed by the King and Queen on those found to have been of special support during the reign. The token is a brooch in the form of a silver crescent, engraved with the sigil of the sovereign and consort.
- Vanguard of Honor: Granted for recognition of outstanding honorable and chivalric actions upon the tournament field. Polling Order. Orange and black braided cord worn on the right arm or shoulder.
Honors
A mixed bag of thank yous, offices and titles.
- Arts and Sciences Pentathlon Champion: The winner of the Arts and Sciences Pentathlon, which is usually held every other year.
- King's Champion: The non-victorious finalist in Crown Tournament, or to someone who fought exceptionally well in the tournament. The champion receives a sword and tabard to wear for the duration of the reign.
- Personal Heraldic Title: Those who have shown sustained devotion and extraordinary contributions to the arts of Heraldry and Armory. A very rare and special award.
- Queen's Champion: The winner of the Queen's Champion Tournament in a specific form. The victor is given regalia of the office to wear for the duration of the reign.
- Right Noble: Those Guilds or study groups that have provided great service or contributed to the benefit of the Kingdom No regalia, but the the right to display guild's armory with full achievement: supporters, helm and crest.
- Rose: Those who have served as Consort of Caid for a full reign. (Tinctureless) A wreath of roses.
Closed Orders and Honors
Orders and Honors that were previously used in Caid, but are now closed and no longer active.
- Landmark: Locations found to have special significance to the Kingdom.
- New Battered Helm: Best death at the Queen's Champion Tournament.
