Gallavally Anniversary
March 16, 1991

During the lull between Crown tournament and TFYC, come to Gallavally and help us celebrate our fourth anniversary, the celebration will be held Saturday, March 16 at Valley Wide Regional Park in San Jacinto. The theme for the day is war Preparation; if you have something new to tryout before you take it to Texas/Ansteorra, now’s the time.
The main business of the day will be a doudle elimination heavy weapons tournament to choose our new Champion, with various contests and amusement to trap-the-unwary/entertain the populace. If sufficient demand exists, we may also hold light weapons (shinai) competition. Several creatived melees are planned as well in keeping with the War Preparation theme.
Two of the contests that our fiendish/active imaginations have produced thus far are a war story contest (please keep in mind, however, that truth is a serious impediment to a good war story) and an SCA trivia contest sponsored by Lord Eldwin Nightowl and derived from his “Ask Eldwin” column in the Dreiburgen News (free plug).
A succulent offering of roast beef and turkey, fresh breads, cheeses, salads, a delicious array of tempting pastries with cold apple cider and hot coffee will be available at the food booth for a modest sum. The proceeds will go the canton pavilion fund.
We also plan a helm auction (the prize is a tourney/war chest) and a silent arts auction.
The revel will be in the park’s multipurpose room and will begin at 6 pm. It will feature music and merrymaking with appetizers and desserts.
The site is dry. Parking may be tight bercause there are two other major events at the park that day; for that reason, and (let’s be honest, now) because of the distances involved, carpooling is suggested.
Incidentally, merchants are always welcome in Gallavally.
