On the Weekend of August 30,31, September 1, The barony of Dreiburgen hosted the War between Caid – Atenveldt. The number of fighters on both sides was 110. Result of this gathering of armies was a draw. The site was in the City of Redlands.

Chronicle for the Caid/Atenveldt War by Theodric Pendar of Faulconwood
Late last August, the people of the Barony of Dreiburgen were surprised to find the army of Atenveldt camped upon its borders. Additionally, the army of the Kingdom of the West was soon spotted marching down from the North to join its allies. Having no large army of its own, the Baron of Dreiburgen quickly sent a plea to King Martin for help.
Wasting no time, the Army of Caid was gathered and sent to the aid of the people of Dreiburgen.
On the evening of August 29, AS XV, all three armies began to gather in one spot, to peaceably meet and discuss the differences between Atenveldt and Caid, which caused the Atenveldt army to march.
Court began on the morning of the 30th with good spirits among all in attendance. Spirits remained high as banners, previously lost in Atenveldt were returned to the possession of the Kingdoms of Caid and the West.
However, it soon became apparent that the only solution to the matter at hand was going to be open warfare. Court ended with all warriors going off to prepare for combat.
As dusk was beginning to approach, the three armies gathered in the large field nearby. The combined Atenveldt and Western armies proved too great a foe for the army of Caid and the first battle was lost.
However, one battle does not make a war, and the armies reformed. For this encounter, the army of Caid decided to defend a defile near the Caidan encampment. Once again, the combat was fierce. When the dust had finally cleared, the only combatants alive were from Caid.
Man, nor woman, live by war alone, and the armies retired from the field to enjoy the evenings festivities.
When the sun finally arose the next morning, the Commanders of the armies were still unable to agree to terms for a cessation to the hostilities. Thus the armies again began to reform. Once again the combined Aten and Western armies marched out to find the Caidan army. The Caidans were found defending several outposts, and though they defended bravely, the Caidan army was again defeated.
However, during the outpost battles, many archers gathered to begin a quest to rescue an imprisoned Princess. However the journey was difficult and many archers were either killed or turned away. However several archers were able to rescue the Princess and return her to safety, being grateful for their good fortune.
The Caidan army, however, refused to be vanquished and once again took up arms against the invaders from Atenveldt and the West. Taking positions in a nearby castle, the Caidans were soon attacked. In the closest combat of the War, Caid successfully defended the castle. But the attack had taken its toll, and only three Caidans were left alive.
Finally, the combatants tired, and decided to a truce, although no treaty terms could be worked out. Having been unable to accomplish more than a draw with the Caidan army, the armies of Atenveldt and the West returned home. The borders of Caid were once again safe from enemy attack.
During the combats and the interludes between combats, various arts competitions were held, in addition to the archery quest. The following are the winners of those competitions:

- Lady Quiauxochitl
The autocrat wishes to express thanks to Adrian Buchanon through whose efforts the war was held at the site that it was, and to Eichling von Amrun, who made the war more comfortable by building both the privies and the showers.

I remember this being my first “WAR” though I had been playing since spring of 79 being a teenage high school student with no drivers license really limited my play.
When this war came up I was very excited because not only was it local, it was at a horse ranch that my family had been to on a number of occasions.
Aladric and I day tripped on both Saturday and Sunday.
Things I remember most are:
Becoming acquainted with Leo and Rowena’s daughter Trista de Cordoba, The excitement of seeing over 100 men at arms clash in battle, The excitement some people had about actually having showers on site! (They had run a garden hose from the ranch house, split it into four short hoses with garden nozzles, and rigged curtains on top of pallets.) and of course the social activity (but not drinking) at the tavern (back then wars had a functioning tavern that sold alcoholic beverages, it was a big deal who got to run the tavern because it was a major fund raiser.)
