Tired of being all dressed up with no place to go, we're once again giving a ball. Please join us for an afternoon of dance practice, arts and games, and an evening of dancing and merriment.
This year's theme is "The Capulets' Ball" celebrating the most famous party in the history of theatre and love stories. Revisit Romeo and Juliet: wear Italian Renaissance as one of the principals, or Elizabethan as a member of the audience. (Costuming in the theme is not mandatory, just a suggestion). Masks are optional, but encouraged.
Site: Westchester Christian Church, 8740 la Tijera Blvd, in Westchester. The site is dry.
Site Fee: $15 for members, $18 for non-members, $7 for children 10 years and under. Subscription is limited to 150 and may sell out before the day of the event.
(details on where to send money, directions to site, and steward's contact info deleted from this reposting of original article).
Schedule for the Day:
- 3:00 pm Hall opens - games, dance practice, arts workshops
- 7:00 pm Black Rose Ball
- 11:00 pm Hall closes
The afternoon will offer various activities: dance practice with our illustrious dance masters, period games in Abba and Mufasa's Den of Iniquity (gamble with your baubles or theirs).
Mistress Medb Renata will host a Coffee House with light lunch offerings.
Baroness Astra Christiana Benedict will coordinate workshops to make 12th Night gifts that are easy, inexpensive, and that people really want to get. You will be able to try our hand at making one or several items suitable for gifts for a small materials fee.
Baron Keradwc an Cai has agreed to transport his studio and take formal portraits.
The evening will include a buffet of sweets and savories substantial enough to serve as dinner, dance cards, live music, and three dance masters for the ball. Company of Clothiers hall costume badges will be awarded; contests will include Best Theme Application and Best Mask. Large changing rooms will be available if you wish to save your finery for the evening.
