Death

Baroness Alison passed on 7/31/2016. Sir Waldt, her husband, and Founding Baron of Dreiburgen has asked that in her honor, all those who feel inclined please either donate blood or make sure your donation card is filled out so that those who might be saved by such donations will be.

Memories

Alison was majestic. She entered the room with the same royal grace as tall ship in full sail gliding across the sea. Whether you were a friend or an enemy, you were bound to take notice. She held her head high, and every place she walked, and every place she stood became exactly where she should be at that moment. She was full of self-assurance (which broke down occasionally in private). She rejoiced in the shared fantasy that the SCA created - an idyllic light in a gray and often ugly world. She and her husband, Waldt, were not only great as a couple but as Baron and Baroness. She was an excellent organizer. The Barony of Dreiburgen was new with little experience in how to be one. She insisted that everyone contribute – which didn’t always agree with those who just wanted to “play.” But she was also very protective of “her people,” which meant anyone in her Barony. She believed in people and in their potential. She was not afraid of differences. She was a Taurus and she embraced all that meant, especially the stubbornness. She was not shy about telling me her opinions about this belief or that belief, or of one political structure or another, but she was completely tolerant and supportive of differences. I think that perspective is one of the things I miss about her most. It wasn't enough to "agree to disagree." She reveled in the psychedelic nature of relationships with widely diverging viewpoints. She was never shy to debate, but friendly disagreement only made friendships stronger. Many people including myself owe her a great debt for her guidance. I miss her so very much. ~ Eadwynne of Runedun
