Brann Morgan Dunmore of Galloway is going great guns as our new seneschal, and this past weekend (October 30), autocrated our Anniversary Tourney, which was a great success... After everyone arrived, we held court with their Highnesses, Price Morven and Princess Bevin, along with their Excellencies Baron Waldt and Baroness Alison von Markheim. (Actually, I suppose they held court, and we (rabble) attended them. Whatever.) Lists for the Dragonslayer of Gorgonoth and Champion of Dreiburgen were (was?) held after the box lunches were consumed. Cameron of Caldoon is the new DSofG&CofD. Then we had a pumpkin carving contest, in which H.H. Princess Bevin entered a "cat-o-lantern," or "Cheshire Pumpkin." Sir Martin the Temperate carved a portrait (?) of HH Prince Morven, but the prize (a(what else?) pumpkin pye from St. Mary of Callender) was taken by Lady Giesele Hildegaard of the Mystic Dragon. ( I think)

Also initiated at this tourney was the Lionsgate (sp?) joke contest. After the events at Purgatorio, leading up to the declaration of armed hostilities between them and us, we heard ugly rumors that the Lionsgaiters were telling crude japes about Dreiburgen, such as the only good restaurant being Ye Golden Arches. Therefore we started a contest, to be judged by Baron and Baroness von Markheim and I, to see who could devise the most original (no revamped (Polack, Italian, Shastan, etc.) jokes), funniest, and not-in-too-bad-taste Lionsgate jokes.

Example: Why do Lionsgate fighters wear rug armor? Anything else would rust! The judging was postponed to a later date.

Then we had a nice revel at House Dunmore, and Duke Aonghais told stories about when he was King of the East, the Great Eastern Sex Scandal, his first tourney, and assorted other things...

By the way, we now have (again) a registered group on the UC Riverside campus, called the "Historical Simulation Society," which ought to get us neat things like members and copying at the UCR Central Duplicating.

I remain, your obedient servant, Nikolaj Zrogowacialy. October XI
