Memories
From Lachlan of Cromarty
- Lady Arabella da Siena was Kolfinna's Queen's Equestrian Champion, and so marshalled the event. She set up a final round where the riders would simultaneously race on parallel courses, performing three feats in series: throwing a spear, striking at straws with a sword, and tilting at the quintain with lance. The rider thus had to switch weapons on the fly. Before the final round, Arabella demonstrated the run flawlessly. It was quite breathtaking. In the actual final round, both riders, Virginia and Erycha Orlon von Scotte also ran well, but each made errors. In the end, Virginia's time was slightly shorter than Erycha's.
- Closing court was arranged with the Queen and the Crown Princess facing each other, with kneeling pillows between. As herald, I also stood between them, facing the populace. Whenever anyone was called forward, they would pause for a moment, trying to decide who to kneel to! It was a very light-hearted, informal court, which was fun to herald. (Ludwig snapped a picture of me while laughing at somebody's joke) I'm glad my last opportunity to serve as Kolfinna's herald was such a happy memory.
