CONCERNING TWELFTH NIGHT IN THE SOUTHERN BARONIES:
The Baronies of Calafia and the Angels will hold a Twelfth Night Festival and Banquet on January 13, 1973, beginning at 11:30 am. The daytime highlight of the Festival activities will be a human Chess Match. The game will be primarily non-combatant, with challenges decided by a variety of means. The Banquet and Revel will be held at the Palacio Mabuhay (address omitted) for a donation of $3.00 per person. Attendance will be limited to 80, and no tickets will be sold at the door. Reservations should be made prior to January 5, and should be mailed to Mistress Meg Shelford (address omitted).
Children will attend a private banquet hosted by House Young Fire, in an adjacent room with adult supervision, and they will not be admitted to the revel. A wine punch will be served, otherwise, bring thine own aquavitae. As partial requirement for admittance to the revel, all those planning to attend are asked to prepare a poem in hnour of the new year. Further information about the Festival and Revel will be included with the confirmation of reservations.
(schedule omitted)
The theme of the Twelfth Night (and Day) activity is to welcome the New Year together, in joy and peace. All events during the Day (and Night) will be stressing this theme. In the chess game, the ladies will have probably a better chance of defeating the lords (en masse, or single combat) than the men do when they will fight another man. The Banquet will be traditional, with even more sport than the chess game. We therefore leave this warning to all that come to the Twelfth Night: The object is Jest, Joy, and Fun, nothing in Malice or Spite; of those who would enter in--Beware! theirs may be the LEAD tonight.
Those wishing to spend Saturday night over in San Diego, please indicate on your reservation forms (to be found on the last page of the Page), so that housing may be arranged.
