Persona

Scottish Highlander of the 15th and 16th century from the Clan MacColin. Jennet is her Cornish name. Her Scots persona is named, Seònaid nic Iain.

Jennet (Janet) has been fascinated with Irish and Scottish history and music since she was very young. She began singing traditional songs from those countries while still in her teens, and for over four decades she was a professional entertainer at Celtic clubs, fairs and festivals in Southern California and elsewhere. For twelve years she led a monthly workshop in both traditional and modern Irish and Scottish songs, and she has developed and taught several seminars on the subject of Celtic songs as they reflect the daily life of the Irish and Scottish people. She has also recorded an album of traditional songs and poetry with the bardic trio Cailleach. She has also been active for many years in portraying and teaching the cultural history of Scotland and Ireland. In working with historical reenactment groups at Renaissance Fairs, SCA and other events, she has discovered a great deal about fiber crafts, and she enjoys sharing these skills and their associated lore with anyone who's interested.
