Gallavally Anniversary
April 24-25 1999

The Canton of Gallavally is hosting it’s semi-annual Pentathlon and Anniversary event on April 24th and 25th, 1999 in Aguanga, at a private site near the National Fores Southeast of Hemet, CA.

The Pentathlon will have five separate winners in the disciplines of Rapier, Heavy Weapons, Static arts, Archery, Performance Arts. An overall winner will be awarded based their cumulative scores and participation in all areas. To become the overall winner, you must complete in four of the five areas. You may however choose to compete only in one or more areas. But to b ecome the Gallavally champion and win the over-all prize you must compete in the Pentathlon.

Due to the unprecedented rise in the number of Barons in Dreiburgen, both landed and court, there will be a Baron-shoot at the archery range during the Saturday Break. Combat arrows only, please! Other activities will be announced at a later publishing.

There will also be a sponsored arts contest in the fiber arts category, with a prize awarded. We hope to have other sponsored contested and events.

We will also have children’s activities, see the posted schedule on site for more info.

The site is now open on Friday afternoon! Overnight camping is available (and heartily encouraged) on Friday and Saturday night. Site will be open from 12 noon on Friday to 4 p.m. on Sunday Site is desicretely wet ( please drink responsibly, we don’t wish to have to retrive you from the lake!)

The site fee will be $5.00 per adult and $2.00 for children from 6 – 12 years old. Under 6 will be admitted free with an adult. An adult must accompany children at all times – there is a lake on-site all persons under 18 years old must have either a parent or an adult guardian on site. Ground fires will be permitted in fires rings or braziers. Please bring you own fire wood! No gathering of fire wood will be permitted. Memories

  • I had just been made a Court Baron and it was mentioned to me that there were a LOT of Barons running around in Dreiburgen. I made a casual jest that we should have a Baron Shoot to thin down the herd. As my wife was autocrat, she seemed quite happy to put my life on the line and volunteer me as a target. A number of us, including Baron Jonas Aquilian, Baron Aldred von Lechsend aus Froschheim and a few others whose names escape me at the moment, all volunteered (or were volunteered) for the shoot. We armored up and took our places at the end of an archery range and walked back and forth like ducks in a shooting gallery. It surprised me how many gleeful people wanted to launch arrows at us. I found out that Fellwalker-style crossbow bolts really sting. But it all contributed to the overall merriment of the event. Good times. ~ Eadwynne of Runedun
