Darkwell War XVII
Byzantines vs Vikings

July 29 – 31, 2005

The Barony of Dun Or invites you and yours to gather at Darkwell War during mid-summer atop the golden rolling hills of Tehachapi. Come join us in a celebration to credit the reign of good King Wenceslaus, St Stephen of Hungary (Bohemia), who vastly expanded the perimeters of safety and prosperity for his people and ultimately the civilized world. Participate in activities that reflect his cause for a safe and just country.

Schedule for the Event:

Friday July 29

  • 10:00am – Site Opens

Sunday July 31

  • 12:00pm – Site Closes

The site provides space for many Venders to sell all the goods and wares you may need. This year the Barony of Dun Or sponsors a booth to sell bags of ice, firewood (depending on fire hazards conditions), and event t-shirts.

Activities:

This clash between the East (Byzatines) and West (Vikings) does offer many new and different scenarios to be played out. Boffers, Rapier, Heavies and Archers are encouraged to attend. Thiss shall be an excellent opportunity to practice your skills. The list of activities includes two Friday late afternoon and evening Tourneys, one Children’s Boffer Tourney and the Mid-Summer Night Tourney. Several battle scenarios for all weapons forms are scheduled for Saturday. Court will be held at some point.

The Barony will host a Baronial Feast, and Fighters Feast will be sponsored by the Fray.

Drumming and Dancing are scheduled for Saturday night. Musical and Bardic entertainment will be present throughout the event. You will also find a few games and contests. Try your luck at dunking someone or being dunked in the Blessed Pond. Twist your wit in an attempt to write an entry for the White Belt Dictionary. Brewers, Weavers, yes, all you over-achievers, are encouraged to attend the lovely, although very warm event.

Please be aware of the dry heat, lack of shade and accompanying problems. This site is a very “natural” environment. Many stinging insects, plague carrying rodents, and native snakes will likely be present. Chirurgeons will be on site, but everyone should sure to have proper supplies should a situation develop.
