Sir Þorfinnr (Thorfinnr) brimill, formerly Thorfin Vooselur.

Thorfinnr began in the SCA around age 10 (1992) with his father Lawrence while living in the Shire of Seawinds, Ansteorra. After a hiatus during High School Thorfinnr returned to the SCA (2001) in the Shire of Arenal, Meridies and was quickly drawn into Armored Combat. In 2004 he moved to the beautiful Barony of Calafia, Caid. It was here that he continued to train in Armored Combat and at Great Western War 2005 he became squire to Duke Christian du Glaive. Duke Christian guided Thorfinnr well and when he departed the lovely Kingdom of Caid for the Barony of the Far West, he left Thorfinnr in service to the fine Sir Gamel of Mottrum. When not fighting, Thorfinnr enjoys armoring, leather crafting, metal working, and acid etching in brass.

March to Glory was penned at Pennsic War 2009 by Eilidh Swann, inspired by Sir Þorfinnr.

He was elevated to the Order of the Chivalry on November 6, 2010 by Wilhelm and Thaleia, King and Queen of Caid.

Persona

Thorfinnr is an 10th century Varangian Guardsman hailing from Norway. While in service to Basil II Thorfinnr learned to read and write in Greek. When he was proficient enough, he occupied his free time reading classics, such as Homer, Herodotus and Xenophon. Thorfinnr became so obsessed with the stories of ancient Greek warriors, that he decided to model his armor after the famed Hoplites of times long past to pay them hommage. In the colder months of the year Thorfinnr dresses himself in traditional Norse garb, but in the Summer, he tends to gravitate toward Greek fashions.
