This year's Friendship event featured the return of the "Agricola Changes His Mind" theme, which was previously run in Caid once (at Gallavally Anniversary 2001) and in Meridies in 1990, both times stewarded by Baron Beorn. On this occasion, the event was updated to include rapier and Arts & Sciences point-earning opportunities.

It’s 85 CE, and Gnaeus Julius Agricola has been recalled to Rome. Now, as a loyal and devoted servant to the Emperor, he does as he is commanded. However, what if he had ignored the Imperial summons and set out to the west, to Hibernia? A bit too early for you?
Well, let’s move forward roughly 1500 years to the Rebellions of the Irish clans against the yoke of Elizabethan England. There will be rattan and rapier single elimination tournaments and a series of pitched melees (where the winner of the previous battle gains an advantage in the next scenario). Fighting not to your liking? We will have a Triumphant presentation of finery, Arts & Sciences classes and displays (for the populace and a special one for Youth), a Bardic competition, and a Youth Scavenger Hunt. Each victor receives a point that they may put forth to either the Imperial or Irish forces. Will the Baronies work in congress to save the Emerald Isle? Or will the mighty invaders conquer Eire? You help to decide its fate!
SCHEDULE: 7:00am - Local set up 8:00am - Site opens 8:30am - Lists open/ A&S display set up 9:30am - Opening Court (or at Their Excellencies’ pleasure) Triumphant March (15 minutes after opening court) Lists close after the Triumph 12 noon - Donation Luncheon (vegetarian and vegan options available) 3:00pm - Champions of the Isle chosen Closing court (at Their Excellencies’ pleasure) 5:00pm - Site closes (please be off site before 6pm)
TOURNAMENT FORMAT(S): Single elimination- scutum and 24” stabbing sword, oval shield and 6 foot spear for rattan. Single elimination- single sword, rapier and defensive secondary for rapier. The victor of each serves as the general for the sides and teams are chosen for a series of melee scenarios to determine the martial fate of Ireland.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Adult Event Registration: $25. Adult Member Discount Event Registration: $15. Children 17 and under are guests of the Barony. Cash and checks accepted at the gate. Please make checks payable to “SCA Inc./Barony of Gyldenholt”.
SITE INFORMATION: Parking is limited, please unload and then park at Pioneer Middle School.
