An SCA demo was held on October 14, 1978 at the South Coast Plaza Village in Santa Ana, CA. Baron Fredrick of WoodLyn and Baron Conrad von Regensburg served as heralds; Lord Gwydiaan am y'Gorlwyn and Lady Anna McAyre of Gorabh were medics; Lady Eyana bat David did Lists; Lord Agelos Evienece was the Marshal; and Lady Hedgia du Loup ran the fashion show. James du Mer handed out 450 flyers at the information booth.
Agelos received an Award of Arms at opening court from Their Majesties Armand and Diana.
Contest winners included:
- Most Refreshing Beverage: The Bastard Son of King Henry VIII (prize: an etched wine glass)
- Most Provocative Ankle-Turning: Katherine Graybard of Sillenglen, Sciences Officer for Dreiburgen (prize: an opal necklace)
- Best Posturing: Lord Sweyn MacChlurain of Helsingør (prize: gold hand mirror)
- Lace Contest: Sadly, there were no entrants
- Fashion Show:
- Best Hand Kissing: Honorable Mention to Baron Fredrick of WoodLyn and Lord Sweyn MacChlurain of Helsingør for their "sweet nothings", and to Duke Aonghais Dubh MacTarbh for his technique. The winner was Baron Conrad von Regensburg for the second year in a row. He won a bottle of wine, which was appropriate because he was garbed as his alternate persona Cardinal Gloriosus. The judges were Her Majesty Diana de Savigny, Baroness Alison von Markheim of Dreiburgen, and Baroness Rowen Lynn of Woodvine of Calafia.
- Best Challenge to a Fight: Won by a Calafian who challenged the fighters of Heatherwyne (prize: silver tankard)
The champion of the day was Viscount Sir Christian of Orange (prize: silver brandy snifter)
