KNOWN WORLD GATHERING

ANNO SOCIETATIS XX

Have you ever wondered what the barbarians from far distant kingdoms look like? What strange customs they have? What strange tongues they speak? How they fight? Dance? Eat? Drink? Have you ever wished to trade your goods for exotic art from stange places?

You may have the opportunity to satisfy yourself in AS XX at the greatest cultural exchange since the First Crusade. The Board of Directors has established a committee to start gathering information and suggestions on all aspects of such an undertaking (such as site, facilities, events, time of year, anything at all......!) Put them on paper and send them in. All ideas from the most detailed to the simplest will be read, cataloged, and considered. Send all comments with your name and address and phone number to:

All the Known World will come if we all work a little to make this a gathering that everyone will want to come to.

Question. What should we call it???????????

Memories

(from individuals; also formal event reports)

  • from Giles Hill: At TYC there was a confluence of two desires: the acquisition of woad (held by Eowyn Amberdrake), and the acquisition of Pictish body art (belonging to Talorc Brennon Pittenweem, then a spry young lad of 17 or 18 summers, and now, I am told, a master brewer in the antipodes by way of profession). Eowyn painted whorls, spirals, and interlaced knotwork all over Talorc, who spent the rest of the week happy as a clam. On his return to his Calafian home, his mother was horrified to see that he had developed a nice tan everywhere the woad had not been, and was still stark white in the places that had been painted. It took several months for "Souvenir of Hadrian's Wall" to finally disappear from his back.
