Greetings Unto the Kingdom of Caid! The Barony of Calafia invites you to join us on Saturday, August 16, 2025, to celebrate Her Royal Majesty Róisín ni Brian. Join us for a day of beauty and joy at this year’s Festival of the Rose to celebrate HRM Róisín. We gather to honor art, talent, and fellowship under the blossoming theme of “A Garden of Roses.” Come stroll through our garden of creativity and delight at the many wonders that await. Let the spirit of the Rose inspire your attire, art, and performances! Whether you craft, sing, tell tales, or simply enjoy the wonders of the day, there is a place for you among our garden’s many blooms.
SCHEDULE:
8:30 am - Site opens for Artisans to set up displays
9am - Site opens for everyone else
10am - Opening court, or at Their Majesties’ pleasure.
1pm - Bardic Performances begin, or at Their Majesties’ pleasure.
4pm - Closing court
5pm - Site closes
EVENT REGISTRATION: Adult Event Registration $30, Adult Member Discount Event Registration $20, Youth aged 17 and under are guests of the Barony. Acceptable payment form: CASH or CHECK. Please make checks payable to “SCA, Inc./Barony of Calafia.”
ACTIVITIES: Period Games to test your skill and wit!
A&S: An Artisan Display showcasing the talents of our gifted populace. Her Majesty requests to see your “Best ‘finally done' project” meaning the time between start and completion must be over a year. She also wishes to see your best “buy nothing” project meaning a project completed solely with supplies the crafter already owned or was gifted – thus “buying nothing”. All artisans are warmly encouraged to bring their creations for display, admiration and to compete to be Her Majesty’s Arts and Science Champion.
BARDIC: A Bardic Competition where voices and stories will bloom like the fairest flowers! If you wish to join the Bardic Competition, hosted by THL Melles Erszebet, please sign up at (removed).
LUNCH: Lunch will be made by Mistress Adelicia of Caithness and will consist of handpies. There will be three kinds to choose from: 1. Tarts for an Ember Day with caramelized onions, brie cheese, and currants, 2. Chicken sausage with sour cream, cheese, and green chilis and 3. Pepperoni pizza with mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. There will also be a salad bar, and cupcakes. Suggested donation - $5.
SITE RESTRICTIONS: Encinitas Community & Senior Center 1140 Oakcrest Park Dr, Encinitas, CA 92024. This is a dry site. No smoking or vaping inside, observe all signs outside.
