Memories

From Lachlan of Cromarty

It was held in the mountains of Dreiburgen. The day started out sunny and bright, which lasted through opening court. As the fighting began, so began the rain. Throughout the day, it continued to get colder, and alternated between rain and hail. The fighters had a tough go at it, but perhaps the marshals and heralds suffered the most.

The final round was not a pretty affair. The fighters' entourages huddled in the Royal pavilion while neither combatant was willing to yield to the other. Upon final defeat, Dietrich von Vogelsang gasped in anguish at having weathered the storm that far to fall in the end.

As we departed the site and made it back to the freeway, we looked up the mountain and could see that the snow line was only a few hundred feet above the park's elevation. Brrr!
