THL Roger Wells was an archer, leatherworker, metalworker, jeweler and scribe. Roger passed away sometime around Thanksgiving 2019. Roger joined the SCA in the early 1990's in the Barony of Dreiburgen and became known as a quality artisan in leather working, wood working and metal fabrication (armor making). Roger for decades helped SCA and Adrian Empire fighters make and learn to make armor for fighting and often donated things that he hand made. He had created a period encampment (including an elaborately painted tent) and helped various officers in the Barony of Dreiburgen. He built a workshop in his back yard so he could teach his arts to anyone who wanted to come by and learn. Roger was a triple bowmaster in the Open, Longbow (a division that ended in the 2002) and Crossbow Divisions. Only a handful of archers have done this. He was also the second Kingdom Archery Champion. He was the 16th member of the Order of Chiron. Roger pursued other activities at the turn of the millennium and became active again around 2010.
Here are his SCA links:
Roger was a caregiver, in the 1990s to his wife who passed away and then to his current lady. He was always ready to help those around him. In the last couple years, he had became active teaching leather work with a local Boy Scouts group and restoring a Model A.
He is sometimes known as "Roger Wells of Dragon's Bane" and "Wells of Dragon's Bane."
