Let it be known that the Canton of Poll na Gainmhe invites one and all to their Anniversary Tournament under the towering trees of Imperial Valley College's front lawn, on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Here is your chance to sit back, relax, and talk with friends, or armor up and poke sticks at those same friends. Four foots are welcome, but they should be leashed or contained.

There will be banging of sticks upon armor, with real, live fighters inside that armor. There will be the whip of rapiers flashing through the air, with real, live rapier fighters whipping those rapiers around. There will be a three fighter melee. There will be games and a garb exchange and youth activities. There will be prizes for the valiant, the fortunate, and the forceful.

Croquet is planned, however, there is a sad note connected with croquet. The flamingos have been removed by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Flamingos over both the canton's complaints and the affidavits from the flamingos that they liked playing croquet. As a result, croquet will be played with plain old croquet mallets.

There will also be archery. We have aroyal round, tiered elimination, William Tell, and a bag shoot planned.Loaner equipment will be available and authorizations can be conducted for those who need it. Bring your archery equipment, authorization card, and $1for the bag shoot if you plan to enter.

There is no sit down lunch, but there is a wonderful lunch you can purchase for the paltry sum of $5.00, and eat under your own day shade. There are skewers of grilled meat for the carnivores and skewers of grilled vegies for the vegetarians, soup, bread, grains, and a beverage. Dessert by Raven...more need not be said. This is a dry site.

Please let the cook know if you want meat or vegies, so he can plan.
