Dreiburgen Yule
.It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Yule!
The days shorten as the year draws to a close. the Barony of Dreiburgen invites you to join in festivities appropriate to the season, an evening of fun, feasting and frolicking, Saturday, December 13 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gallavally. Theme for the day and for the feast is illusion - It’s beginning to look a lot like Yule.
Competitions
- Best table setting – two categories: table set for up to 4 people, and table set for 5 or more, remember the theme is to create an illusion, to be visual spectacular.
- Story of the Season – the beast presentation (to the assembled group) of a story related to the end of the year, Yule or Christmas. This may be presented in song or verse.
- Dessert Subtlety – a dessert which looks like something, creates an illusion. Please be sure to include a list of ingredients, extra points for documentation.
- Heraldic Pictionary – pictionary, using heraldese. You may want to review your handy heraldic dictionary.
Father Christmas is expected to appear for a gift exchange. Please bring a wrapped marked with a tag, stating whether it is for a Child, a Lady or a lord, if you wish to participate in the gift exchange. Please limit your extravagance to $10.00.
Schedule of the Day
- 2:00 pm – Site opens
- 4:00 pm – Opening Court
- 5:00 pm – First Remove
- 6:30 pm – second Remove
- 7:15 pm – Father Christmas presents gifts
- 8:00 pm – Third Remove
- 9:00 pm – Dancing
- 11:30 pm – Hall Closes
Menu
The feast is planned to be a delight to the eye as well as the palate. Menu includes:
- First Course: Mock Hummingbird tongues, Mock turtle soup, Salmon in aspic
- Second Course: Salad, Rice Castles filled with rattatouie, Dessert Ravioli
- Third Course: Layered soup, Roast beast, Buche de Noel
Site fee includes feast: Pre-registration: Members $10.00. non-members $13.00, Children aged 6-12 $5.00, less than 6 are guest of the Barony,
At the door: Members $12.00. non-members $15.00, Children aged 6-12 $6.00, Family fee cap two adult fees and two children’s fees.
