Dreiburgen Yule: The Merchant’s Quest

My Lord and Ladies, don your traveling clothes and prepare your caravans, you are invited to join the Barony of Dreiburgen in celebrating the Yule traditions of three lands on December 12, 1998 Gather with us at our departure point, located at the shipyards in the port of Gallavally. We’ll be meeting in the Harbormasters Inn 136 S. Harbor Street, Hemet CA (lower room Oddfellows Hall located in Hemet)

You are merchants traveling for three years throughout the known lands bartering and collecting goods to trade during your journey thus increasing your knowledge, holdings and lest I forget your wealth. Using your skills in the universal languages of barter, you befriend powerful and gracious patrons who invite you to partake of their local Yule customs.

Goods: And did we not tell thee, each paid adult shall receive a complete recipe book with all the evening fare included. Further, contests will be numerous including the traditional Dreiburgen Best Table Center Piece, best Yule performance from a table of fellow travelers (the kitchen staff will be singing also), best use of a costume appropriate to the lands visited, and much, much more.

  • My favorite memory of this event was not getting elevated to Court Baron (which was very nice). It was that Lady Casia Thessalonica apo Constantinopolios memorized and recited for me The Voyage of Bran,, an Irish hero story which I very much liked. She added just a touch of an Irish brogue, and spoke with a force and confidence that few could match. ~Eadwynne of Runedun
