Altavia Anniversary Tournament
Sunday May 15 (AS XXXX)
The Barony of Altavia invites you to the celebration of our 22nd year to be held upon the lush green footing and under the great shade trees of Gabrieleno Park in the verdant foothills of Altavia. Please note that the date of our Anniversary event has been changed to Sunday, May 15.
Baron Laertes and Baroness Bridget have decreed that Altavia's Anniversary shall include the very best sport and activities for the enjoyment of the Populace. There will be several Arts & Sciences classes, Children's activities, and many amazing martial sports.
Altavian Baronial Champions will be selected by tournament for Heavy Weapons, Rapier, Boffers, Equestrian, Arts & Sciences, and Chess.
The Arts & Sciences competition theme is the main charges of devices near and dear to our hearts: Fret (Altavia), Four Leaf Clover (Laertes) and Briget's Cross (Bridget) -- rendered in any medium. See the Altavian website for examples of these charges.
Along with a Challenge contest to determine the Baronial Equestrian Champion, the Equestrian activities will feature a three-round demonstration tournament of SCA experimental jousting. In addition, riders of all levels, even those on stick horses, can participate in a Mounted Quest in the theme of "The Princess Bride." Riders of all levels are welcome to participate and rental horses are available; however, beginners must be pre-authorized before the day of the event. In addition, there will be a trivia quiz on "The Princess Bride", so get ready with your Dread Pirate Roberts quips since not entering is inconceivable.

Directions to the Site
Take your favorite route to the 210 freeway between Pasadena and the San Fernando Valley.
Heading East: Take the 210-E to Osbourne St. Turn left at the bottom of the ramp (onto Foothill Blvd.) Follow Foothill Blvd. for slightly less than a mile. Turn right onto Orcas St. which leads straight to the park.
Heading West: Take the 210-W to Osbourne St. Turn right at the bottom of the ramp (onto Foothill Blvd.) Follow Foothill Blvd. for slightly less than a mile. Turn right onto Orcas St. which leads straight to the park.
