- He was one of the first Knights I met after joining the SCA. He would come to events in Darach.

- Mahie was a larger-than-life Irishman. He always had a smile on his face and often drink on his breath. He was one of the most open and open-handed individuals I have ever known. You could find his camp by following the sound of bagpipes and laughter. I recall at a Gyldenholt event there was supposed to be an axe throwing competition but the axes were not brought. Mahie laughed and grabbed his gorgeous handmade axe and "Use this". He was a generous and hospitable man.
