CP Tournament 2012
Description
This was the first Crown Prints Prize Tourney held after the Society began electronic publication of its newsletters. As this eliminated the need for a dedicated fundraising event for Caid's (award winning) newsletter, the event was repurposed as a general fundraiser for the Kingdom as a whole. The Barony of Gyldenholt was proud to host this tremendous success, which raised over $5,000, and was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. While the 'official' name remained "Crown Prints Prize Tourney" on the kingdom calendar, most people referred to it as "Caid Prize" or "C-Prize".
Event Staff
Stewards: Baroness Ceridwen Killian and Baron Rowen Killian
Highlights
Fighting will be a play on the old "Ransom" Tournaments. You will need to present a ticket (1 ticket = 1 "life") to enter the field. You will automatically receive 2 tickets upon signing up on the lists. You will receive at least 2 more tickets by donating something to the raffle (you may receive extra tickets for a stellar donation). Extra tickets (lives) may be purchased at Gate/Lists.
Awards
- Lady Avicia de Na Baiona and Lady Bonne de Traquair were created Companions of the Harp Argent (Avicia for music, and Bonne for cooking) by TRM Patrick and Kara during Opening Court.
- Lady Merewen of Warthwic was added to the Order of the Dolphin
- Baron Rudolph Fekter of Naevehjem was added to the Vanguard of Honor.
- Vigaulf Ranarsson and Elspeth Lyttleburye were awarded Arms by Their Majesties.
- Mistress Mary Dedwydd verch Gwallter was made a Legionnaire of Courtesy.
From the Crown Prints
The Barony of Gyldenholt sends greetings unto the Kingdom of CAID and cordially invites you to attend the CP Tournament at Pacifica High School (6851 Lampson Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92845).
The time has come to reach deep into our hearts and pockets to help support our newsletter and Kingdom. The Ladies of the Rose will host their traditional basket raffle and Master Riordan MacGregor will be running an item/basket/service. He is already collecting contributions so look in your closet, garage, and favorite SCA hiding place for those long-lost treasures that need to find a new home.
As for the fighting, there will be some twists to the list. Each fighter will be able to fight as much as they want or can afford. In keeping with the theme of fund raising, each losing fighter will give the victor a ticket. At the end of the allotted fighting time, the fighter with the most tickets will win the tournament. Whether you fight one fight or one hundred it is all up to you. A fighter can gain at least two (2) tickets by donating appropriate items to the raffle. For those goods that blow us away, you may gain more tickets.
Gyldenholt’s award winning Right Noble Upper Crust Cooking Guild will be offering a hearty lunch in exchange for ticket donations. All proceeds will directly go to the Kingdom of CAID.
