The Barony of Wintermist invites the populace of Caid to witness the stepping down of Baron Ajax and Baroness Fabia, and the investiture of reeves Alphonsus Balthazar von Hamer and Sherlin Goldhammer. The day’s festivities include rapier and armored combat tournaments, a bardic competition, the final leg of our Wintermist A&S championship, and a feast.

SCHEDULE:
8am – Site opens
9am – All lists open
10am – Opening Court (at the discretion of TRMs)
All lists close 30 min after close of opening court
4pm – Closing court
6pm – Feast start time
10pm – Site closes

EVENT REGISTRATION: Adult event registration: $25. Adult member discount event registration: $15. Anyone under 17 will be guests of the barony. Feast reservations will be $10. Feast reservations will be limited to 65. Cash & check accepted at the gate. Please make your check payable to: “SCA, Inc./Barony of Wintermist”

A&S: We will be having the final leg of the Wintermist A&S Championship. The categories are:
Open: Pride of Wintermist - make something to show how proud you are of the barony.
Functional: Wood - make a functional item out of wood.
Decorative: Hammers - in honor of their Nexellencies, decorate something with a hammer theme.
Edible: Bread
You get one extra point for documentation and each category must have a separate item.

BARDIC COMPETITION: The theme will be consorts. Present a piece in honor of those who inspire you!

DIRECTIONS: From the north – Head south on CA-99 S, take exit 24 for CA-58 E, take exit 111 for H Street toward Chester Ave, turn right onto S. H street, turn right onto Belle Terrace. Destination will be on the left, a half mile on Belle Terrace.

From the south – Head north on I-5, continue on CA-99 (signs for Bakersfield/Fresno), take exit 23 for Ming Ave N, turn left on Ming Ave, turn left onto Castro Ln, turn right onto Belle Terrace. Destination will be on the right, a quarter mile on Belle Terrace.

Feast

The feast was a 16th century German menu prepared by Alesone Gray of Cranlegh and their staff.

Radish Salad (V, GF, DF) - radish, vinegar, oil, salt
Cucumber salad (V, GF, DF) - cucumber, oil, salt, pepper, fennel, caraway
New Cheese Soup (GF) - ricotta, sour cream, butter
Beef dumplings - (GF) - beef, onion, egg, saffron, beef broth, pepper, salt
Lamb (GF, DF) - lamb, sage, beef stock, cherry sauce

A musical interlude by the Caidan Drum Corps, Finella Harper, and Mary Dedwydd verch Gwallter performing a song by "the Maiden of Iron" for Baron Ajax before he and Fabia stepped down was a great way to start the morning! Ajax rocked out and cried a little. It was excellent.
