History
Like all ancient pre-literate cultures, the Greeks recounted their history though storytelling, which changed over time to become the epic myths we know today. The entertaining and embellished story of the Argonauts related to future generations the heroic warriors, various Greek peoples and tribes and Mediterranean geography and culture, much like the epic story of the war on Troy did prior to Homer's written account (of which the Iliad is one small portion of the greater story.) Diodorus Silculus said it best, "As a rule, the ancient myths are not found to yield a simple and consistent story, so that nobody need wonder if details of my recension cannot be reconciled with those given by every poet and historian.)
The individual warrior kings and heroes who chose to venture on the dangerous journey aboard the Argo in search of new lands and opportunities are the inspiration for this warband. Each warrior had their own identities and motivations, but they understood that together they could combined their knowledge, power and skills to form a group of individual warriors with a common purpose.
