Highlights

Poetry

Their Royal Majesties Sven II and Kolfinna, and Their Royal Highnesses Edward and Mora made Their entrance to Friday's Grand Court accompanied by poetry by Baron Giles Hill.

Royal Caid comes in glory,
Ancient realm extolled in story—
Born of Western forbears hoary…
With silver crescents crowned.

Far away are Caid’s boundaries—
Washed by water, cooled by sea-breeze;
Encompassing verdant knight’s fees,
Our own beloved ground.

Noble Sven as king she nameth
In argent majesty he reigneth
Undoubted king by all proclaimeth--
his prowess wide-renowned.

Kolfinna likewise comes in splendor
Fierce in battle, her folk’s defender
To her obeisance do we render--
A knight of high renown.

Caid’s princely pair approach you;
Caid brings its best before you:
Edward and Mora—honor to you
Heirs to Caid’s crowns!

Sit they now in council royal
Surrounded by their courtiers loyal
Their majesty beholds no rival:
Sven and Kolfinna, crowned.

Memories

  • Please feel free to add your memories of this event.

From Kolfinna kottr

  • Caid had a decent turn out this year, we had roughly 30 Caidans on site, 14 armored fighters, 3 rapier fighters and 3 equestrians. We were richly rewarded for making the trip as the war was so much fun, with the worlds best weather and the nicest people you could meet. Arabella da Siena was the only person competing on the Trimaris side for equestrian, and on her rental horse Chappy she only barely lost by 3 points. Mealla Caimbeul represented Caid well on the rapier field and made the final of her first tournament at the Cut and Thrust tournament. Edward Senestre once again showed his glory on the war field, where after protecting the Queen of the Midrealm, the Middle King saw fit to introduce him into the Order of the Dragon's tooth, which is their war fighting award, and we are told is an award rarely given. The Caid's armored forces enjoyed the fighting all week, but earned the title of "Caid Lemmings" during the Castle battle. My most fond memories of Gulf Wars are putting the ramps on the crenelation and storming the castle and I knew my troops had to do the same. No other unit seemed up to boarding the castle, so Caid took our 13 and the ramp, ran up to the castle and dived in and died gloriously with cheers of the entire allied Trimaris side screaming "CAAAIIIDDDDD!!!"
  • Personally I got to do so many fun things this war. Sven & I rented a horse on Wednesday and competed in the Dragon Quest game. Unfortunately Ace didn't like the wall that the maiden was perched on, so our times were sad at best. Arabella lent me her horse, Chappy and I was allowed compete again and managed to score a 1:50 which I was much more happy with. I spent much time on the armored field on Thursday and Saturday, and it was just good clean fun. I took to the rapier ravine battle on Friday and fought along side Mealla and the Meridian unit. I got to spend a lot of time faced against my Royal Cousin of the East and so many other good fun fights. HRM Alethea of the East and I made sure to recognize the Calontiri rapier fighters to their King, as they were some of the most honorable and fun people on the field that day. It was one of the first events that I've been able to play in the martial activities for some time (silly back injury) and it was a glorious way to make my comeback!
