The Archers shoot 2 Royal Rounds starting with the 40 yard line moving forward. Once the 2 Royal Rounds are complete the archers go back to 60 yards and shoots 2 ends. Only the non-speed ends are added up for the round. (i.e. 2 ends at 40 yards + 2 ends at 30 yards + 2 ends at 20 yards + 2 ends at 60 yards = 300 points maximum)

Earning the Title of Long Ranger of Dreiburgen

Qualifications

The Archers shoot 2 Royal Rounds starting with the 40 yard line moving forward. Once the 2 Royal Rounds are complete the archers go back to 60 yards and shoots 2 ends. Only the non-speed ends are added up for the round. (i.e. 2 ends at 40 yards + 2 ends at 30 yards + 2 ends at 20 yards + 2 ends at 60 yards = 300 points maximum)

  • In a rotating 12 month period, the archer must have a three score average of 135 with one of those scores being 150 or better. An archer can not earn the title without the 150 minimum high score.

Royal Rounds

  • A. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 40 yards.
  • B. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 30 yards.
  • C. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 20 yards.
  • D. 2 ends of 30 seconds rounds at 20 yards. (These ends are not added in the Long Ranger round.)

Long Ranger Round

  • A. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 40 yards.
  • B. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 30 yards.
  • C. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 20 yards.
  • D. 2 ends of 6 arrows at 60 yards.

Scoring for the 60cm ten ring 5 color target

  • At 40, 30 & 20 yards – gold 5 points, red 4 points, blue 3 points, black 2 points, white 1 point.
  • At 60n yards - gold 10 points, red 8 points, blue 6 points, black 4 points, white 2 points and 1 point for sticking in the target butts outside the scoring rings (a witnessed hit also counts).


Revised Qualifications (To eliminate paper work)

  • A. No warm-up rounds may be loosed for this event.
  • B. 6 arrows/bolts maximum per end.
  • C. At 30 yards, 4 out of 6 arrows must hit within the 18-inch metal ring of the wreath.
  • D. At 20 yards, 5 out of 6 arrows must hit within the 18-inch metal ring of the wreath.
  • E. At 40 yards, 3 out of 6 arrows must hit within the 18-inch metal ring of the wreath.
  • F. At 50 yards, 3 out of 6 arrows must hit within the 22-inch metal ring of the wreath.

(Crossbows-A 40 yards , 3 out of 6 bolts must hit the 12-inch metal ring of the wreath.)

  • G. Each end must be successfully completed in succession in order to qualify for this order.
  • H. Crossbows, all shooting must be done from a standing position.
  • I. Period Style Equipment, Bows may not have an arrow shelf. There may be a small built up arrow ledge out of leather no more than a ¼ inch off of the bow. All arrows must be self-knocking.

Needed Equipment

  • A. Three 18-inch metal ring
  • B. One 22-inch metal ring
  • C. One 12-inch metal ring

(The metal hoops from old drum heads with the heads cut away, work well).

  • D. Eight foot silk leaf strands. Wrap 2 strands on each metal ring.
