'Tis fitting, while sitting amongst Odin's Swordsmen | |||
As northern winds chill while the Northern Sea speaks | |||
I tell you this night of a man with NO foemen | |||
Our Edward, gone Viking, the sagas he seeks. | |||
We know of the dread gales that batter the sail cloth | |||
Of jagged rocks gouging the length of the keel | |||
The roiling swells showing us Great Ægir's fierce Wrath | |||
The biting spray numbing us; too chapped to feel. | |||
And through each adventure, or fight, or endeavor | |||
Was Ed's booming laughter above all the din | |||
A smile like the sun bursting forth through bad weather | |||
That blocked all ill out whilst keeping all the good in. | |||
Yet wait! Do I hear mighty Sleipnir's strong hooffall? | |||
Like thunder that courses across the wide plain | |||
Ah, no! It's the drum beats of Ed's rhythmic dance call | |||
It pierces the soul not to see this again. | |||
Think not that we never shall see him among us | |||
Remember you KNEW him; let THAT give you pride | |||
He saves you a cup of mead, waiting to toast us | |||
In Valhall, with heroes, and by Odin's side! | |||

Ed's Memorial Poem
