Grand and Glorious Frost Dragon

Written for the Bard of Naevehjem competition at Naevehjem Anniversary 2023 on 11/11/23.

The theme was: "Placate the ego of our Frost Dragon with boasts and bragging of the terrors, might, beauty, and power of the dragons of old"

I don't know many dragons. But I do know the the Frost Dragon. I went up against him in 2022 and tried to placate him with candied bacon, while he was distracted by that Nikolaos Phaistios took him out ;(

So I decided to write a boast in honor of:

The Grand and Glorious Frost Dragon

There are no boasts better than the truth.
And nothing is more couth
Then an honest telling
Of the dragon's quelling.
And so I say forsooth:
The frost dragon of Naevehjem
Is the greatest dragon of all time.
Showing its might
In fight after fight.
Without a moment of down time.
Each year the dragon appears.
High, it's frosty head rears.
Its mission is vital.
To defend its title.
Then go have a couple of beers!
The line of foes is long.
All of them fearless and strong.
The dragon fears not,
They all will be fought.
Even if it takes all day long.
Each fighter takes the field
With no intent to yield.
They join the bandwagon.
And circle the dragon.
With their mighty swords and shield.
The dragon takes it in stride.
And it's time it does bide.
Then a mighty whack
And the helm does crack.
Thus another fighter has died.
The dragon wins fight after fight,
By virtue of its cunning and might.
Each fighter laid low,
From blow after blow,
Be they noble, or squire, or knight.
When the fighting is done,
And all have had their fun,
The dragon turns to go.
And saluting each foe,
Disappears into the setting sun.
