Godfrey was born in 1330 in Wessex England.  While on campaign in northern France Godfrey joined Todeskorps, a band of European mercenaries.  Upon enlisting in Todeskorps Godfrey met a Noble french Chevalier; Sir Philippe de Tornay.  Eventually Godfrey was taken as Sir Philippe's squire.
