Argent wyvern

Gunnar Jorgenson
fallen in Spring Crown Tourney, A.S. XLII

Argent wyvern, shield maintaining
See him there on list-shield tree
Not long now, night’s darkness waning
Day as bright as hopes will be

“O Kissa fair, though Crown may wait
I tarry yet within the Hall;
Your blessing grant, while I relate:
For honor, love and beauty I give my all.”

Argent wyvern, Irish lion
Ringing blows invoke the Fates
Kara’s Celtic knight is dying
Arianna’s knight awaits

“O Kissa fair, your faith I keep
Through ev’ry trial, great and small
For as you sow, I surely reap
For honor, love and beauty I give my all.”

Argent wyvern, von Goarshausen
Bids to lock you out this day
Viking steel will not be thwarted
Sir Mons is struck to Death’s cold clay

“O Kissa fair, you know full well
You hold my heart within your thrall.
Again I plight, and bold to tell
For honor, love and beauty I give my all.”

Argent wyvern, mighty cedar
Holds an eagle striking fast
Wings beat fiercely, talons clashing
Eowyn’s knight has breathed his last

“O Kissa fair, for you I dare
To soar, and run the risk to fall.
The gamble mine, and taken here
For honor, love and beauty I give my all.”

Argent wyvern, bull of sable
Horns now tipped with gore so red
Portuguese, not Cretan fable
Seanach’s Jarl draws Viking blood

“O Kissa fair, the battle fierce
Dismays me not—so let them maul.
My hide, not my resolve, they pierce
For honor, love and beauty I give my all.”

Argent wyvern, ‘ware the sloth’s blade
Tigress’ champion kindles fire
Pierced hide now twice open flayed
Kolfinna’s Count lights longship’s pyre

“O Kissa fair, my race is through
And now at last does Odin call.
My heart at peace, I say to you
For honor, love and beauty I gave my all.”

— Baron Riordan Robert MacGregor
...is a 15th C. Scot of no fixed address glad to be able to take up this assignment partly in honour of the Welsh archer and equestrian who served then-Queen CiarLasse—and so many others—so very well.
