Come celebrate the winter holidays in the Nordic lands with Their Excellencies John and Flavia. Besides various contests, the first annual Bard of Angels competition will occur (details forthcoming).

The Inn of the Crimson Spade will host a variety of period games. Contributions to the potluck will be determined by either your modern or persona first name and The Barony will provide bread and beverages.

A-F: Salad or side dish (hot or cold) G-L: Dessert M-R: Main dish S-Z: Vegetarian (eggs, cheese, nuts)

Please provide your own feast gear. Join us from noon to 11:00 pm for food, The Barony will provide bread and beverages. If you need access to an electrical outlet, contact Lord Balthazar in advance.

The site is discreetly “damp” (beer and wine may be consumed by those over 21.)

Dessert Contest: Recipe should be pre-1650 AD. Please bring serving utensils and a list of ingredients; brief documentation encouraged.

Table Decoration Theme: Yule in the Nordic lands. Lit candles MUST be enclosed; battery-operated candles encouraged. No perfumed candles please.

Holiday Raffle: Baskets, items, promissories for goods and services all welcome. Proceeds benefit the Barony’s general fund.

Toys-for-Tots: Annual collection of new UNWRAPPED toys and books. fun, and frivolity!Their Excellencies John and Flavia invite you to join them in celebrating Yule in the Northlands. In keeping with Icelandic tradition, there will be toasts throughout the evening to victory, good harvests, and peace. There will be food, fun, and frivolity as well as a potluck dinner and the Seraph Bard competition.

Schedule of the Day

Noon: Hall opens for table decoration and setup 2:00 pm: Opening Court of Their Excellencies 2:30 pm: Period games hosted by the Inn of the Crimson Spade who will also provide an informal venue for entertainment 4:30 pm: Potluck Feast, with toasts and entertainment 6:00 pm: Dessert Contest judging, followed by the Bardic Competition (until 8:00 p.m.) 9:00 pm: Closing Court (contest winners announced and the new Seraph Bard invested) 10:00 pm: Clean-up commences (all volunteers are welcome) 11:00 pm: Hall must be vacated and locked

Activities

The Seraph Bard competition will be held during the feast unless there are more entrants than the time can accommodate. If that occurs, the competition will begin at 2:30 pm and if necessary run until 8 pm.

The Barony will provide bread and beverages. Please provide your own feast gear. The site is discreetly “damp” which means beer, ale, and wine may be consumed by those over 21. No bottles may be evident. No alcohol may be served to minors.

Please provide your own serving dishes and serving utensils, and a list of ingredients as a courtesy to those with food allergies. If you need access to an electrical outlet, contact Lord Balthazar in advance.

Ornament Exchange: For those who wish to participate, we will be exchanging holiday ornaments. Please bring an ornament (preferably handmade or hand-decorated) to put on the tree and at the end of the evening you will be able to select one to take home. (This activity is optional.)
