Event Announcement

(From "The Caid Principality Newsletter Special Edition", October 1974)

The 4th anniversary of the Barony of the Angels will be celebrated on Oct. 5 & 6 at the Lytle Creek Sportsmen's Park near San Bernardino. Map on this page should get you there: the map in THE PAGE does not indicate that Interstate 15 E changes names as it crosses I-10, and becomes the Barstow Fwy. It's te Riverside Fwy only south of I-10 so try not to become confused by I-15 E's many name-changes as it goes along! (This is NOT THE PAGE's fault, by the way.)

(A hand-drawn map by Maestra Flavia Beatrice Carmigniani was provided.)

There is a $1.25 per person charge for use of the campsite for the weekend, or 50 cents per person by the day. Bring your own charcoal briquest--NO WOOD FIRES ALLOWED! There are hot showers available, swimming, fishing, etc.

(More driving directions)

Challenges & contests include matches, melees & Lists for Champion of the Barony; a fruit pie or tart cooking contest, singing, dancing & skulking (an old tradition that involved wearing capes and sneaking about stealthily), as well as a contest for making the prettiest handkerchief from scratch and possibly archery contests.

A Court of Love will be held at the fire pit on Sat. eve, after the preliminary lists: please forward details of cases to be heard to Lady Catriona nicChlurain (details omitted)

NOTICE: Since Lytle Creek Campground is a private park, it is important that you let the Seneschal of the Barony (Lady Catriona) know if you plan to attend. An area has been set aside for us. Please honor that courtesy by helping Lady Catriona's plans for the even with an early reply.

SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OFFER! For those who'd rather call Col. Sanders (not the Incipient Prince, who is never chicken!) than cooking dinner, have we got an offer for you! Saturday night, Griffin Freehold will offer bar-b-qued chicken, beans &/or soup & bread for a nominal fee at the Tourney site, for all comers. This is the unused (and still frozen) chicken from the highly successful Coronet Banquet - proceeds will go to the Caid Principality newsletter to help cover the money already put into three publications out to Principality members, & a small % to Griffin Freehold for cooking. Bring your appetite & something to drink!
