Highlights

The Right Noble Metalworkers' Guild of Caid's Semi-annual Hammer-In was held at the historic blacksmith shop of the Yucaipa Adobe owned by the San Bernardino Museum. The Yucaipa Smiths also put on demos under Klaus Duebbert, but they were run as two co-located events.

From the Crown Prints

You are Cordially invited to the Hammer-In: The Fall Meeting and Workshop of The Right Noble Metalworkers' Guild of Caid, October 17 - 18, 1998 at the Yucaipa Adobe, 32183 Kentucky St. Yucaipa, CA

The Barony of Dreiburgen is hosting The Caidan Metalworkers' Guild Semi-annual Meeting and Hammer-In Workshop and we invite all artisans and crafters with an interest in the Art of Metal. Our first day will be dealing with Blacksmithing and Toolmaking and it will be of special interest to those people who need to make or want to obtain specialty tools for their crafts. The second day we will be emphasizing armoring and weapon/blademaking techniques. More instructors are still being sought. Artisans and Crafters of all interests are welcome. This workshop will be held in cooperation with the Yucaipa Adobe Blacksmiths who will be participating in the classes and demos. Of special interest is their adobe forge which will be used by the Yucaipa Head-blacksmith, Klaus Duebbert. The Yucaipa Adobe is an Historical Structure and is part of the San Bernardino Museum.

Site fee is $2.00 and there will be a Saturday dinner for an additional charge of $5.00 (participants only). Period Pavilions are allowed and encouraged on site, and some on-site camping may be available (in Period Pavilions only).

Merchants are welcome and the museum is asking for a "goodwill" donation rather than a site fee. SCA regulations (and the State of California) requires that a resale permit be provided on request.

The Yucaipa Adobe is just off the 10 Freeway just West of Beaumont, CA., at 32183 Kentucky Street, Yucaipa (about one hour East of Los Angeles). The Yucaipa Regional Park and Campground is about 10 minutes away. Food and lodging are close by and plentiful. It is 20 miles north of the Canton of Gallavally in Dreiburgen.

For more information or to offer to teach a class, please contact the Autocrat, THLord Eadwynne of Runedun

Memories

There were many demonstrations over two days including one by local Sir Luther Anshelm, OL, who showed how to raise a salet helmet in one piece in one day. Master Emmerich of Vakkerfjell OL,OP, of An Tir came down to found the Caidan branch of Inter-Kingdom Moneyers Guild. Eadwynne became the founding Guildmaster for Dreiburgen. Dies were created on site, and hand-stamped coins were made available for the attendees. A few years later, Master Donal O'Brien, OL, took over the Dreiburgen Moneyers' Guild. The Right Noble Metalworkers' Guild retained the overall umbrella of moneying activities in Caid. \ Atar was going to be here, but was injured by a lawn mowing accident. Klaus who was working with the museum, kept telling our people how things should be done - including the cooks. Never upset the cooks.
