Highlights

From the Crown Prints

Fala lala la la la la la, ‘Tis the season to be …….Artsy! Hitch up your sled to the horses and brave the cold Calafian Winter! Join us for merry-making, fabulous art and entertainment, and warm grog….well, we don’t really have any grog.

The event will be held at Santee Community Center, 10601 Magnolia Ave., Bldg. 8, Santee CA 92071. Site opens at 8am and closes at 5pm.

In the spirit of giving, the Barony would like to give back to you, the loyal and generous populace of Calafia. There will be no site fee for this event and lunch will be served free of charge to the first 100 people.

During this season we would also like to give back to our Military for all that they give to us. This year instead of taking donations for Toys for Tots, Becky’s house or food donations, our donation will be made to Operation Homefront. Operation Homefront provides emergency assistance and morale to our troops, to the families they leave behind and to wounded warriors when they return home. You may read more about it at http://operationhomefront.net . For a suggested donation of $5 or more a ticket will be issued for door prizes to be drawn at closing court. (Must be present to win.)

For those wishing to compete for the honor of being this year’s Arts Champion, you may enter any number of items completed since last Winter Arts to be judged by the populace. You may also display a maximum of four other items. You are limited to a space of three feet. You MUST reserve your space by November 21. No exceptions. There will also be a Youth Arts Champion competition as well; same criterion.

Voting tokens will be distributed at gate with your site token. Also, to show your appreciation to the artisans for their work, you might want to bring personal tokens to honor them with.

In lieu of classes, we will be focusing on Performance Art! There will be performances by various groups after opening court and again before closing court. Don’t miss out on these wonderful entertainments!

‘Tis also the season for ….. cookies! For those interested in the culinary arts, we will sponsor a cookie exchange. Each participant will bring 3 dozen of one recipe of cookies AND the recipe. The cookies and recipes will be laid out on a guarded table and each person will go through and choose 3 dozen of a mixture of cookies. So you come with 3 dozen cookies and you go home with 3 dozen cookies! What’s not to like about that!? Recipe cards will be made available to copy any recipes you want.

We hope that you come to share this day with us, for the best gift you can give is your time. What could be better than sharing a day of your time with close friends?
