From the August & September 1975 "frankly unofficial" Crown Prints:

A Short Report of the Pensic [sic] Wars:

It was wet. It rained a lot. Charles of Dublin was introduced to grasshoppers. It was wet. Fashions at the Pensic Wars included Hefty garbage bags with arm & head holes, & tied at the waist. It rained a lot. Lots of grasshoppers were smuggled into California because it was too much hassle getting them off of & out of the tent before it was rolled up. It was wet. West Coast SCAers are considered uncouth because they travelled 2500+ miles & then wanted to fight instead of stand around in the rain while the Kings judged an arts contest. It sure did rain. Lots. -- Combined report of Robear du Bois & Martin the Temperate, who would more likely prefer to remain anonymous.
