All hail, Caid! Come join The Barony of the Angels in celebrating 54 years with flying colors! Our theme is Heraldry, and just like the populace of Caid, each of our coat-of-arms are unique and have a story to tell. We invite everyone to display their banners, pennants, standards, surcoats, and shields. Come fly your flags, display your devices, and let our standards dance in the summer breeze. We will have a variety of contests for champions. The lists will be standard double-elimination combat for Armored, Rapier, and Cut & Thrust. There will be an Arts & Sciences display and competition to determine our Arts Champion. The barony will also have its traditional cooking competition, the Hester Spoon! This year’s ingredient is Oats, and all entries must use it in their recipe. There are two categories, period and non-period.
In keeping with the theme, there will be additional Heraldic competitions. For the combatants inside the eric, show us The Best Heraldic Field Display, loosely defined as how lavish you can get with your heraldry. For households, baronies, and groups outside the eric, dazzle us with The Best Heraldic Display — what lends more ambiance to an event than banners, standards, and heralds heralding! For individuals, there will also be a Best Heraldic Garb contest.
SCHEDULE:
8am: - Site opens
10am - Opening Court at Their Majesties’/Excellencies’ pleasure
Lists close 10 minutes after Court
4pm - Closing Court
5pm - Site closes (please be off site by 6pm)
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Adult Event Registration: $20. Adult Member Discount Event Registration: $10. Youth aged 17 and under are guests of the Barony. Cash, checks, and PayPal will be accepted at gate. Please make checks payable to “SCA, Inc/Barony of the Angels.” We will gratefully accept donations at the gate to offset the cost of non-member surcharges for gentles who may be attending their first event. SITE INFORMATION/RESTRICTIONS: No parking on the sides of the streets that have houses. No parking off the asphalt. No parking in the YMCA or museum lots. This is a dry site. Dogs on leashes are OK. No smoking anywhere on park grounds due to LA County laws.
