Sometimes a melody gets stuck in my head and I just have to write a filk with it.

When my father wanted to go visit his homeland of Calontir, I remember humming Peter Allen's "I Still Call Australia Home" on the entire trip. As we discussed moving there, I found that everywhere I looked something was missing.

The love and acknowledgment that I received at Dreiburgen Summer Arts 2022 showed me where I belong.

I wrote this piece in September 2022 when the dream of moving to Calontir was still fresh in my mind. Even though some dreams fall through, this dream (the SCA) remains alive.

So this filk, Dreiburgen, is for you.

I Still Call Caid Home

Sung to the tune of Peter Allen's "I Still Call Australia home"

In the SCA, I first spent my time
In Wintermist, Nordwache, and Naevehjem
Wanderlust hit hard and I had to roam
I still call Caid home.

I've camped with Starkhafn and shared fire with kin
In Lyondemere friendship, is freely given
But again she's a calling out there on the wind
I still call Caid home

Bridge

As I take a journey to another land
I think of my Society friends
When I am far away and I am yearning
With this kingdom, my heart always stands.

Gyldenholt and Altavia I admire
Dun Or showed me to fly my standards higher
I'll fight alongside them at least till I get tired
I still call Caid home

Drieburgen holds a place special for me
Oh the people I adore In this barony
And no matter where I go we're all family
I still call Caid home

Bridge

As I take a journey to another land
I think of my Society friends
When I am far away and I am yearning
With this kingdom, my heart always stands

I'm always travelin' all over Caid
I've been to Darach, Isles and Western Seas
I know I will come back eventually
I still call Caid home.

Well if I get to stay
Or if I have to go
I still call Angels
I still call Calafia
I still call Caid home.

Now that I get to stay
And I don't have to go

I know you're wondering why would I leave
Well I go where the wind and my father takes me
If that's far away then that's where I'll be
I still call Caid home

It's good to know your friendship never ends
But no matter how far
Or how wide I roam
I still call Caid home

All of the peerage, playing in the game
Meet up with their families and friends
Knights and MOD's fighting 'round the world

We all have the places that we all like best
And I don't mind if I do I'll get it off my chest
Cause my voice is tired and I need to rest
I still call Caid home
