Once upon a long time ago there was only ice, solid and white, cold and unchanging. Deep from under the ice came Dragon. First cracking, then breaking though and melting most of the ice, creating an ocean. Slowly Dragon built a home for herself, a lava stone cauldron of fire. Dragon lived there for a long time and so here home grew large. Trees and birds lived in harmony between the fire and the ice.
One day dogs came running and hunting. They were very hungry and vicious. They saw Dragon and went after her, biting her tail. Dragon became angry, thrashing her tail and throwing fire all over the land, scorching the trees, blackening the earth and overwhelming the ice with fire, melting it.
Now the dogs were scorched and blackened as well. Realizing what they had done they let go of Dragon and ran howling to the ocean to cool off. This caused steam to billow into the sky creating a great dark cloud. With a clap of thunder and lightening, snow and rain fell, cooling the land and making the first winter, bringing back the balance between fire and ice.
Dragon, in her wisdom, saw that it was natural for the dogs to hunt and forgave them, bidding them to hunt creatures of a more reasonable size. The dogs, with singed fur, agreed. To celebrate this balance between fire and ice and of the Dragon and the dogs of Caldaria do we have Winters Feast. In a traditional manner starting Friday night thru Sunday morning; feasting, dancing and sleeping in the great hall of Dragon's Gate.
Saturday January 8th is feast day. Activities include; Potluck breaking of fast Lighting of the Dragon Games Bread making Stone soup and it's story All manner of "period as possible" cooking and baking Sunset Procession Evening feasting with gift exchange Dancing
Sunday January 9th; Breakfast, Clean up and site closes at noon
