===From [[Ygraine o Gaerllion Fawr]]===
Dame Elinore Windemere of the Moors was born June Johnson on June 27, 1930 in Boggy Depot, OK. Her dad was a farmer and her mother had five children, of which June was the youngest. On March 9, 1947 she married Charles S. Ashworth Jr. They remained married until his death in 1991. They had three daughters and I, Ygraine, am the middle child.
In the mid seventies June and her youngest daughter Lura first encountered the SCA at a mall demo. She was fascinated with the arts and crafts and they jumped in with both feet and as much enthusiasm as you would expect from a couple of starry-eyed newcomers.  Mom had always had a interest in sewing so naturally she gravitated to costuming and crafts. When Talanque and Rowen Lynn, Baron and Baroness of Calafia, saw her warmth and exuberance they asked her to be the first head of the Baronial Household that they established for the instruction of newcomers.
She received her Award of Arms in November of 1978. She was granted Baronial and Kingdom awards and received her Laurel in May of 1981 and the Pelican in November of 1985. She also received a Signum Reginae from Duchess Diana in 1980. In 1984, Elinore received the Royal Recognition of Excellence and the Legion of Courtesy in March of 2001.
Elinore became the second Baroness of Calafia in 1986 and sat the thrown with her friend Talanque for three years. She is one of the few recipients of the Order of Leodamus of Thebes, a Calafian order honoring those within the Barony who act as arbitrators and peace makers to the populace.
Those are the statistics, but behind all those dates was a woman who was open and friendly, a little bit crazy and a lot devilish. She could draw up a sly little joke, crack a little smile and leave people wondering "Did that little old lady say that?" She could break in to a song at the most unexpected moments and could be seen doing brief little dances across the field. She could laugh with you and at herself and you couldn't help but be drawn to her friendly smile. She could counsel you, listen to your troubles and hug them all away.
Dame Elinore was a boon to Calafia, Caid and to us all.

Ygraine, I am just stunned to hear this news.  Your mom was such a kind lady and one of the first people Id ever met in the SCA when she was Baroness of Calafia with Talenque.  I will always think of her fondly, she was one of those responsible for inspiring me towards costuming.

Ygraine, I am just stunned to hear this news. Your mom was such a kind lady and one of the first people Id ever met in the SCA when she was Baroness of Calafia with Talenque. I will always think of her fondly, she was one of those responsible for inspiring me towards costuming.
