I have told this story many times because it is not only amusing, but it puts a spotlight on a little seen aspect of our events.

Please enjoy and raise a toast to our Constables!

Timotheus vs. the Constable

During the Great Western War 2010 I sent my husband Timotheus Zacharia von Schloss Zwilling back to our merchant pavilion at midnight to fetch something that we needed before bedtime.

While Tim was rummaging around in the pavilion he heard a voice from outside calling "Will the person inside the merchant pavilion please come out!"

It was a Constable concerned about seeing a flashlight moving around inside a closed merchant tent.

The Constable asked Tim's name and verified that on his list of merchants (I didn't know they carried that, COOL!) However, since he didn't personally know Tim, he requested that Tim step into the HQ pavilion to see if someone there could verify his identity.

Baron Rowen Killian and Sir Einar aus Enwelt were manning HQ at the time, both of whom had known Tim for MANY years.

When asked if they could ID Tim, they both said, "Nope, never seen him before!" To which Tim said something rude.

At which point they looked at each other and said, "Can you believe Master Tim said that to us?" Chortling followed and the Constable read the room and went about his business.

I LOVE this story not only because of its humor, but because of the wonderful job that that Constable was doing to keep the merchant's area safe.

Mostly we don't notice what the Constables do for us. They work behind the scenes and in the dark of night. Too often when they are noticed folks are annoyed to be asked to put out their fire or quiet down.

But the Constables are an important part of our events and I am grateful for each and every person who volunteers to walk the site and keep things safe!

THANK YOU Constables!!
