CONTESTS

  • Sword-wrapping: judged on looks & practicality--prize will be sword hilt & rattan to fit
  • Poetry (in English, please: bring your best!
  • Best Death

There will be a public execution of our local fool, Herman di'Medici (we've put up with him long enough!) All Baronies are invited to bring their own fools (official or other)--for a similar service, free. As this may be a very large event, reservations ahead of time are requested.

We are trying to set up a dinner at a local German Smorgy; if this falls through, suggestions will be available for good food at reasonable prices.

On Sunday there will be a fighting practice & general get-together beginning at noon.

Our (almost late) Seneschal, Cameron of Caladoon, personally requests that all fighters remember their personal protection (& we don't mean your squires!)

PLEASE BRING BANNERS to decorate the field & hall. Appearances are very important because we may have news coverage.

IMPORTANT! This tourney will run on time! Grand March will be at 10 AM! If you're late, too bad.

Anybody wishing to entertain at the revel should contact Lady Cristobal well before the tourney. Also anyone wishing to stay at Lady Cristobal's house must make reservations at least a week in advance & bring their own bedding. A few violations of her hospitality have occurred & folk who break House Rules will be asked to find other accommodations. On Friday night, lights out at midnight so the contenders for the Coronet may rest up.

A PLEA FOR HERMAN d'MEDICI. . .

My lords and ladies of Caid,
It has come to our attention that you have plans to execute the kind & gentle Herman d'Medici. This letter is a plea for his life.

We have met him but once, yet he let such an impression upon us that we cannot stand by & see him executed.

We have heard tell of his feats of amusement & of his ability to cheer even the most sorrowful of the populace.

It would be a great shame to hasten the demise of one whose talents are so rare in this kingdom.

Therefore, Lords & Ladies, we beg you to reconsider. We await your final decision.

Written this day, March 20, AS X -- Princess Dove of Hoghton and Princess Alyson of Hoghton
