On April 4, in Portuguese Bend (Palos Verdes Estates), Guy Marchand de Montfort and Canton Lyonesse are sponsoring a Prize Tourney. This will be within the confirms of the private estates and only SCA people and their guests will be allowed in; therefore, many of us can enjoy the tourney much more by not having to watch our belongings so carefully.

Set-up will begin at 9:30am with Opening Court at 11:00am. Contests to include:

There will also be a box lunch auction run by Sir Martin the Temperate so ladies, bring your lunches and gentlement, bring your money. NO CREDIT ALLOWED and you will miss out on some very good food if you do not come prepared. NO FAIR CAMPAIGNING BEFORE THE AUCTION.

There are no liquor rules except the unwritten rule of the SCA that no Lord or Lady will disgrace themselves by becoming an unruly drunk. There is a smoking restriction due to the dryness of the area. For additional information, contact Guy Marchand de Montfort or Lady Gabrielle (Personal information omitted)

BOX LUNCH AUCTION
Now that Spring is in the air and picnic lunches are again popular (it's not quite as far-fetched as the idea seems during the winter when all we are trying to do is keep warm by whatever means), there will be an increase of box lunch auctions as a means of raising money for the respective Barony, Canton, or Principality. To enter a box lunch you need not be original or an excellent cook--just prepare a lunch, put it in a carry-all of some kind, and bring yourself and the lunch to a tourney. (Or you may arrange with someone else to be the body who goes with the lunch if all you wish to do is prepare the food).

The preparation of the lunches will not necessarily be limited to the ladies. Calafia has a men's box lunch auction coming up. In any case, when box lunch auction is announced for a tourney, please bring your money (no credit allowed) and your hungry stomachs to the auction place, and you may find a new friend for lunch.

After lunch is purchased you are only obligated to spend the lunch time with each other...any other time can, of course, be negotiated during lunch. The auctions will be held during lunch time (12:00noon to 1:00pm). The next auction will be at the Prize tourney sponsored by Guy Marchand de Montfort and Canton Lyonesse, at Portuguese Bend on April 4, and the next one after that will be at the Coronetting Tourney on June 4 in Arroyo Seco Park. Ladies, start preparing your menus; gentlemen, start saving your pennies. See you at the auction block!
